A Greek Philosopher once said change is the only thing constant in life, and that’s never felt truer for me than right now.

As you’ve figured out by now, I’ve taken a leap of faith to go after an ambition of mine that I’ve coveted for a long time. It has been a great run for me at WGAL News 8, serving nearly 8 years at the Susquehanna Valley’s leading legacy television station as a Meteorologist for the News 8 Storm Team, but now the time has come for me to pursue a different passion: real estate.

It’s Funny How Life Works Out

Most kids want to be a police officer, firefighter, or doctor when they grow up.

Not me.

I had always wanted to be a Meteorologist and I never wavered from that desire from elementary school, to middle school, then to high school and eventually 4 years at Millersville University. It was one goal, one dream, and one thing I wanted to do. I put my head down, worked hard, and ultimately achieved the dream I’d had since childhood.

But then life happened. I met my beautiful wife and we started a family. I grew my roots right here in south-central Pennsylvania and called this place my home. But as my roots grew deeper and my life’s tree stretched taller, I began to realize that my time is the single greatest resource that I was missing out on; a resource that I’ll never get back. And it was in this realization that I knew I had to make a change. For me, it was a perfect storm of events that led me to one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.

Real Estate Is In My Blood

I didn’t grow up telling myself that I’d be a real estate agent in Lancaster, PA but real estate runs in my family. My father-in-law is a real estate agent with over 3 decades of continued success in Bucks County. Several years ago, my own mom became an agent before going on to successfully run for political office in the little corner of northeastern Maryland where we lived. I’ve been surrounded by the profession from a young age, and my calling has only grown.

Maybe one day I can tell you their stories, because in real estate *anything* can happen (and has). Having their veteran experience behind me has already been instrumental, and will continue to serve me (and my clients) well in the future.

The more I tried to find out how different real estate was from being a TV Meteorologist, the more I discovered how similar the principle skills between the two actually were. Being able to meet strict deadlines, having constant and effective communication, and delivering on a passion to inform and help people are just a tiny fraction of the many parallels that working in television and real estate share.

God knew what I was capable of, and steered me down a road less traveled for a reason. This I’m 100% sure of.

Nothing But Gratitude

This all being said, I cannot say enough about my time at WGAL. The Susquehanna Valley is truly blessed to have a local television station with the caliber of talent and consummate professionalism that WGAL has. More than just co-workers, these people have become my family, and seeing these incredible people every single day has helped shape the man I’ve become today. The weather team I’ve worked with is the best in the business, and I’ll sincerely miss seeing and talking weather with Joe, Ethan, and Christine every day. However, I’m sure our group texts will live on!

As I journey out into this new adventure, I want to thank YOU and the countless thousands of people who have trusted me for their weather information. I’ve met so many of you while out and about, and I’m hoping to meet so many more of you all. If you see me around town, I do hope you’ll come up and say hello!
